63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect

Comments:
An unannounced focused inspection was conducted today from 10:10am-11:30pm. There were 55 children (infants-12yrs.) supervised by 10 direct care staff. The physical plant, 1 staff record, 1 children?s records, medications, and injury and emergency plans were reviewed inspected. Children were observed having storytime and stuffing their stuffed animals. There was an abundance of books, toys, and materials, which were found to be developmentally appropriate for the children in care at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Description: Based on classroom observation, one classroom did not ensure that hazardous substances were in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: The Infant classroom had a spray bottle of cleaning solution sitting out on the diaper changing table.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3
Description: Based on classroom observation, one classroom did not ensure that electrical outlets with protective covers that are of a size that cannot be swallowed by children. Evidence: In the Preschool classroom (children ages 3-4 years old), there was one electrical outlet by the classroom entrance door, and one electrical outlet by next to the locked cabinet on the left side of the classroom, that did not have electrical covers.

Plan of Correction: We will re-discuss with teacher and replace the outlet covers.
