Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included: standards for Child Day Centers; recording keeping; organization of emergency supplies and storage for staff belongings.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection took place today from 10:00 am -12:30 pm. There were 11 children present with two staff. I observed children playing outdoors, watching a video and eating lunch of meatballs, pasta and fresh vegetables. The owner arrived at 11 a.m. Tonight is the planned graduation ceremony for students. Description: Based on a review of records during today's inspection, there was no documentation available of current liability insurance as required. Evidence: The available documentation of insurance had an expiration date of 2/15/19.

Description: Based on observation and staff confirmation during today's inspection, staff and children's files were not kept in a locked place and confidential as required. (This was previously cited on 4/03/19.) Evidence: Records were observed in unlocked desk drawers.

Description: Based on a review of staff records today, one record did not included documentation to demonstrate that the staff has the education and experience required by the position. Additionally, staff did not have documentation of the appropriate Orientation Training for Child Day Centers. Evidence: 1. Staff # 2 did not have any available documentation of education or program experience for the position. 2. Staff # 1 and # 2 had signed forms for a Family Day Home Orientation, but this did not include all required standards as outlined in Staff Training and Development in the Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers.

Description: Based on a review of records today, there were no staff present with current pediatric first aid and CPR training. (This was previously cited on 4/03/2019.) Evidence: Staff # 1 and 2 had documentation of training that took place on-line, but not documentation of completing the rest of the training as required.

Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, the emergency procedures/maps for evacuation and shelter-in-place were posted in a location not conspicuous to staff and children as required. Evidence: The framed map with procedures was posted at a height above an average adult's view where it was difficult to read.

Description: Based on a review of staff records today, not all background checks were available as required. Evidence: The out of state Search of the Child Registry documents were not accessible for review for Staff # 1 and # 2, both of whom had lived in another state in the past five years according to Sworn Statements and staff confirmation.
