Discussed repairs to the landscape covering on the playground in order to avoid this becoming a safety hazard.

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 07/01/2019 from 11:54am - 2:05pm. At the time of entrance there were 23 children in care with three staff and the program director. The children ranged in age from infant - five years. Children were observed during nap. The preschool class was observed coming in from outdoor play, washing hands and eating lunch. Records were reviewed for six children and four staff. Two violations were observed in the areas of special care provisions and emergencies. These were reviewed with the program director at the conclusion of the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that the diapering surface shall be nonabsorbent. Evidence: The diapering pad on the diapering table located in the infant/toddler bathroom had one rip in the plastic. This allows for germs to be absorbed inside of the padding. Plan of Correction: A new pad will be obtained however, in the meantime the other side of the pad will be used as this side is free of any rips.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-E Description: Based on record review, the center failed to maintain a record of the dates of the practice drills. Evidence: 1. The June 2019 fire drill was not documented on the center emergency log. 2. The December 2018 shelter-in-place practice drill was not documented on the center emergency log. Plan of Correction: Both drills were added to the emergency log during the inspection.
