A mandated Initial inspection was conducted today, 7/26/2019. There were 57 children present with 11 staff. Children were observed signing and dancing in circle time, reading books, and painting. Reviewed 1 staff file, 1 child file, emergency plan, attendance, menu and physical plant. Violations of the Standards are recorded on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-H Description: Based on observation, staff purses were being stored accessible to children. Evidence: After-care and Montessori #1 had staff purses stored unlocked and accessible to children. Plan of Correction: Purses were removed and stored in a locked cabinet during this inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-B Description: Based on observation, materials and equipment available were not age and stage appropriate for the children. Evidence; A peg board with small pegs that were capable of being inhaled or swallowed was observed in the Pre-Primary classroom (ages 2-3 yrs). Plan of Correction: Items were removed and re-housed in a primary classroom during this inspection.
