- Technical Assistance:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 11:25am to 1:20pm . The children were observed dancing to music, playing dress up, and practicing deep breathing exercises. . The infants were observed sleeping and eating lunch. All classrooms, as well as the playground were inspected today. The center does not administer medicine. The center does not provide transportation. Five children?s records and three new employee records were reviewed during this inspection. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Last emergency drill:06/11/2019 Last shelter-in-place drill: 02/23/2019 Last fire inspection: 12/28/2018 Last health inspection: 12/28/2018 Total enrollment today: 29 Today, the following child to staff ratios were observed: Infants ?7:2 Toddlers & Twos ?7:2 Threes-8:1 Preschool (four to five years old)?7:1 The violations from the previous inspections were checked for corrections. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a review of staff records and staff interview on 07/24/2019, the center did not ensure that each staff record contained written information to demonstrate that the individual possesses the orientation training required by the job position. EVIDENCE: 1. The record of Staff #1, whose date of hire was 07/08/2019, did not contain documentation of orientation training. 2. Staff #4 stated that Staff #1 completed the training on the first day, however did not have the documentation available. Plan of Correction: Staff completed the orientation checklist on the first day, but it can't be located. Will have staff complete another one today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-A Description: Based on observation on 07/24/2019, the center did not ensure that over-the-counter skin products shall not be kept beyond the expiration date of the product. EVIDENCE: Desitin diaper rash cream belonging to Child #6 was observed in the infant classroom. The cream's expiration date was 12/2018. Plan of Correction: Will send home today.
