Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 8:55am-12:00pm. At the time of entrance, 6 children were in care with 3 staff members present. Children were observed during group activities, free art activities and outdoor play time. The site was clean, organized and contained an abundant supply of developmentally appropriate materials. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, evacuation drills, attendance records, injury reports and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Please contact me if you have any questions at Stacy.Doyle@dss.virginia.gov or 571-835-0386.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-50-A
Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not treat children's records confidentially. Evidence: 1. An allergy list was taped to the outside of the cabinet above the sink with 7 children's names and their allergies listed. 2. The Director stated she did not have written permission from the parents to post the children's allergies for public view.

Plan of Correction: I moved the list inside of the cabinet during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-C
Description: Based on record review, staff did not complete 16 hours of staff development training. Evidence: 1. Staff C began with the center on 2/20/2018 and had completed 14 hours of training between 2/20/2018 and 2/20/2019.

Plan of Correction: I will ask the staff member to complete the 2 hours of training as soon as possible.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F
Description: Based on review of the center's menu, the center did not follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) which requires 1 milk, 2 fruits/vegetables, 1 grains/bread and 1 meat/meat alternate. Evidence: 1. Monday menu-Grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup 2. Tuesday menu-Mac N Cheese and Bananas 3. Wednesday menu-Sun Butter/Jelly Sandwiches and apples 4. Thursday menu-Chicken Noodle Soup Tomato/Cucumber 5. Friday menu-Cheese Pizza and Bananas

Plan of Correction: I will review the menu for the new school year and make sure it meets all the requirements.
