Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on e-mail correspondence and staff interview it was determined that the staff at this facility failed to provide appropriate care, protection and guidance to a 2 year old child. Evidence: May 20, 2019 a 2 year old child was fed a food containing the child's documented allergen. An equivalent item was sent in with the child from home that was not provided at lunch time, but at snack time. During a staffing interview it was stated that a miscommunication had occurred and that the child was fed an item deemed to contain the allergen. Plan of Correction: When notified of a child with an allergy, a director will meet with teachers, rotating teachers, and housekeeping staff to communicate about the allergen. We will also dedicate a labeled chair in which the child will be served meals and snacks.
