Technical Assistance:
Consultation was given on transitions, supporting young children with an extra staff member when possible and developing an interest box to help when the child can not be with the group.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring visit was conducted today. 21 children were present with 3 staff and 2 staff volunteers. Children were observed in free play, circle time, hand washing and bathroom breaks and transition to a special visitor "Science Seed". Room is well equipped and maintained with age appropriate materials and equipment. No medication was present this camp week. Emergency preparation was up to date. Reviewed a sample of staff and children's records, trainings, physical space and nutrition. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A
Description: Based on record review, 3 of 3 children's records were incomplete. Evidence: Child #1 and Child #2 were missing two emergency contacts and parent work information. Child #3 was missing addresses for the two emergency contacts.

Plan of Correction: Information will be requested from the parent.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were kept in the cabinet above the sink in the classroom which was not locked. Evidence: A container of bleach was stored in the upper sink cabinet.

Plan of Correction: A slide lock will be placed on the cabinet handles to prevent access by children.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3
Description: Based on observation, electrical outlets in the gym were missing protective covers. Evidence: All the outlets in the gym (12 electrical outlets) were uncovered.

Plan of Correction: Outlet covers will be placed in all unused electrical receptacles.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-C
Description: Based on observation, emergency procedures and maps were not posted on each floor of the building. Evidence: No maps showing emergency routes and shelter in place locations as well as emergency procedures were posted on the second floor where the gym is located.

Plan of Correction: The maps and procedures will be posted for the preschool program.
