Comments:
An unannounced complaint inspection was conducted on July 25, 2019. The complainant reported concerns regarding supervision. An inspection was completed at the center, interviews were held with staff and documentation was reviewed and obtained. Based on the investigation, there is not a preponderance of evidence to support the allegations therefore this complaint has been determined to be Not Valid. There were violations found that were not reported. Areas of noncompliance are identified on the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on staff interviews and inspection of the facility, the licensee did not ensure that behavioral guidance for at least one child in care was constructive in nature, age and stage appropriate, and shall be intended to redirect children to appropriate behavior and resolve conflicts. Evidence: The Program Director and Staff #1 confirmed that on May 15, 2019, an incident occurred on the outdoor playground area involving the behavioral guidance of Child #1 (three years old). 1. Staff #1 verified that she told Child #1 "to go to time-out" because he was fighting another child. 2. Staff #1 indicated that Child #1 "kicked his shoes off" and that she picked up the child's shoe and "threw it in the air" next to the child while telling him to "put the shoe back on".

Plan of Correction: Staff #1 had been written up for the incident on 5-15-2019 and was taugt the right way to handle a child that needs to be put in time out.
