Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, were maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: The inspector observed a water hose hanging on the playground fence presenting an entanglement hazard. Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection. I will go over this with the staff.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on observation and interviews, the center did not ensure that where play equipment is provided, resilient surfacing complied with minimum safety standards described in the American Society for Testing and Materials. Evidence: The slide located on the infant/toddler playground did not have enough resilient surfacing throughout the entire fall zone. There must be at least six feet of resilient surfacing from the base of the slide. The center had about three feet of resilient surfacing from the base of the slide. The inspector observed a toddler child playing on the slide. Interviews with the toddler teachers revealed that the toddler children regularly play on the slide. Plan of Correction: We will close the slide until it is redesigned.
