An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted between the hours of 10:00am and 12:00pm. A sample of 2 new staff records were reviewed. The director reported there were no with food allergies at the time of the inspection. Children were observed on the playground, being read a story and circle time. Diapering was also observed.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, were maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: In the toddler room there was peeling paint on the windowsills. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the director during the exit interview: The peeling paint will be touched-up.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: The art supply closet in the open preschool area was not locked. There were 5 spray bottles with disinfectant spray in the closet. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the director during the exit interview: Director will remind staff to locked the art supply closet after each use.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-E Description: Based on a record review the center did not maintain a record of the dates of the practice emergency drills. Evidence: The center's log used to record emergency drills did not have a fire drill documented for the month of July. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the director during the exit interview: The center did a fire drill, however neglected to record it. This was an oversight.
