Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A
Complaint related: Yes
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, staff who were supervising children did not always ensure their care, protection and guidance. Evidence: Staff were observed on the playground from 10:15 - 10:30 am with four staff in one corner while a visitor was supervising the children. The visitor was interviewing for a position. After she left, five staff were present, all in one corner. From that position, they were unable to effectively supervise all the children in the playground. This was observed from 10:30 - 10:40 am.

Plan of Correction: We will go over our playground supervision policy.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-400-B
Complaint related: Yes
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, staff were observed not using behavioral guidance that was constructive in nature, age and stage appropriate, or intended to redirect children and resolved conflicts. Evidence: When younger (age two) children were on the playground, staff were observed not i redirecting in a positive manner. When children were climbing onto the slide portion of the climbing structure, Staff # 1 was observed taking them by the arm off the slide. Children were not redirected to other activities or reminded the rules of the playground. Staff responded repeatedly with the same comment: The child's name and "You know better."

Plan of Correction: We will go over positive ways of talking and review policy, using the Conscious Discipline methods as a follow up training.
