Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 12:00pm-2:00pm. There were 70 children (infants-10yrs.) directly supervised by 15 staff in the preschool and summer camp program. The physical plant, 2 staff/lifeguard records and certifications, 5 children?s records, parents' permission for the children to swim that includes their statement of the children's swimming abilities, medications, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, swimming, napping, and playing freely. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Maria Soto at maria.soto@dss.virginia.gov or (571) 835-5058.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-140-A
Description: Based on review of 5 children's records, the center did not have documentation of a physical examination for each child in care within 30 days of attendance. Evidence: Child#2's record did not contain documentation of a physical examination. The child's first day of attendance was documented as 6/25/2018.

Plan of Correction: Child's disenrollment notice was given.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A
Description: Based on record review, staff records were incomplete. Evidence: Staff#1's record did not include the telephone number of a person to be notified in an emergency.

Plan of Correction: Requested number from staff.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the pool area, the pool's chemical storage room door was found ajar and unlocked, next to a restroom that children use with supervision. A storage closet containing cleaning supplies including disinfectant sprays, floor cleaners, and bleach was found unlocked next to the restroom that leads to the pool area.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.
