An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed today. The physical plant, 5 staff files, 9 children's files, annual fire and health inspection, staff training, child nutrition, children's activities, medications, emergency procedures, drills and supplies were inspected between 11:50am-1:20pm. There were 96 children under the supervision of 21 staff. There are currently 6 staff certified in MAT (medication administration training). During the inspection, children were observed listening to a teacher read a book, listening to music, playing outside in the water park, eating lunch, enjoying free play, cleaning up for and resting during naptime. For lunch, the children were served macaroni and cheese, green beans, pineapple and milk. The interactions between the children and staff were seen to be positive and constructive in nature. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on file review, 1 out of 5 staff did not have all required paperwork on file. Evidence 1. Staff #3 did not have documentation that two or more references as to character and reputation as well as competency were checked before employment began. Plan of Correction: The Director will ask her to bring in 2 letters of reference to keep on file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on file review, the center did not implement an evacuation drill each month. Evidence 1. The fire drill log did not include a drill for June 2019. Plan of Correction: These will be completed each month.
