Comments:
Thank you for your time and assistance with the unannounced monitoring inspection conducted today, August 26, 2019. The on-site inspection was conducted from 10:10a.m. to 1:05p.m. On this date, there were 14 children in the care of two staff members in one classroom. There were a total of 16 children enrolled in the preschool program. Staff records will be reviewed in September 2019 at the MACAA Administration Office. There were five children's records reviewed. Several observations were made in the classroom. There were two staff members and four children interviewed. There was no medication on-site or being administrated. The children were enjoying the second week of school and busy learning the daily routine. The class is using Creative Curriculum. The exception to compliance was noted on the violation notice and the risk rating was noted on the supplemental page. Some items observed and reviewed during the inspection included: center time, circle time, job chart, songs and music, large motor musical activities, bathroom and hand washing procedures, lunch, story time, outdoor play, required posted information, warm water temperature, first aid kit and emergency supplies, documentation of evacuation drills, and current health inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-K
Description: Based on observation and verification from staff, the staff did not sanitize the tables before eating.

Evidence:
1. Before the children sat down at the tables for lunch, the staff cleaned the tables with soap and water but did not sanitize the tables with a disinfectant solution.
2. Staff Member #1 verified that the tables were not sanitized before lunch.

Plan of Correction: Staff now understands that tables need to be sanitized before and after eating. They will clean tables before lunch and then sanitize them.
