Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding children's files.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 6:45am-8:30am. There were 46 children directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, programming, menu, 3 staff records, 5 children?s records, 8 medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed reading, participating in tabletop activities, playing a group racing game, and eating breakfast. Positive interactions between children and staff were observed during this inspection. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on review of the emergency drill log, the center does not have documentation that evacuation drills were practiced at least once a month.

Evidence:
1. The center did not have documentation that an evacuation drill was conducted in June 2019.

Plan of Correction: I will personally speak to the previous Director and ask if she completed an evacuation drill for June 2019. If she did complete a drill I will have fill in and sign the drill form.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2
Description: Based on staff record review, there was no documentation that Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry search results were obtained by the end of 30th day of employment for all staff.

Evidence:
1. Staff #3 (Date of Hire: 4/22/19) does not have Virginia Central Registry search results on file.

Plan of Correction: I am going to central office as soon as I leave here this morning and speak with the head of the HR Department in regards to printing the results to add to my file on site.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3
Description: Based on staff record review, there is no documentation that Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry checks were initiated for an employee that has resided outside the state of Virginia within the last 5 years by the end of 30th day of employment.

Evidence:
1. Staff #3 (Date of Hire: 4/22/19) has resided outside the state of Virginia within the last 5 years. The staff record did not have documentation that an out of state Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry search request was completed.

Plan of Correction: When I leave here I am going to go straight to central office and speak to the head of HR and get the out of state central registry search and add it to the staff file on site.
