Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today include Playground Safety Procedures; Emergency Procedures, Record keeping, physical environment. Discussion included outdoor play areas.

Comments:
A scheduled initial inspection took place 8/29/19 from 11:00 am - 2: 30 pm.The program will take place in an open, light filled space with different sections for children's learning centers.

Description: Based on a review of records today, not all staff had all required information.
Evidence:
There were no emergency contacts for Staff ! and 2; and there were no references documented for Staff # 2.

Plan of Correction: We will get this information.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-A
Description: Based on a review of staff training and orientation, not all responsibilities were covered in training.
Evidence:
There were no written playground safety procedures that addressed specific areas for playground supervision; inspecting the area before use and ensuring safety en route and in play areas.

Plan of Correction: We will write these into a more comprehensive list of Playground Safety Procedures specific to our building and grounds.

Description: Based on inspection of the first aid kits available today, there was no digital children's thermometer as required, and no working battery-operated radio and flashlight..

Plan of Correction: We will get these items.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-B
Description: Based on a review of records today, the center did not have all required procedures for emergencies documented.
Evidence:
The center did not have documented procedural components for sounding of alarms, emergency communication processes to include emergency officers and communication tools; evacuation primary and secondary means of leaving the building; secondary location for shelter in place; curing of essential documents and special healthcare supplies and method of communication after the evacuation/shelter in place; facility containment; and staff training in emergency procedures. .
