Comments:
An announced initial inspection was conducted today.
A violation notice was completed regrading the violations found during the inspection.
The owner purchased an existing child care.
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the inspector.
Inspection began:10:30 am and ended at the center at 12:30 pm.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation the center failed to have all areas maintained in a safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
1. The bathroom between the Starlights and Comets has a toilet that is out-of-service.
2. The round wooden tables on the playground has peeling paint. These tables are used by the children.
3. The storage building has a broken window.
4. The sensory board located on the playground has a broken light switch, sharp edges on the silverware handles and exposed nail heads.
5. The infant and toddler playground area has a wooden fence that has exposed nail heads that are protruding out of the wood. A piece of the wooden board is loose at the bottom.
6. The Supernovas bathroom had a paper towel dispenser that was not working.

Plan of Correction: The owner and director will ensure that these areas are repaired and painted.

Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure that all hazardous substances are kept in a locked place.
Evidence:
1. The bathroom between the Starlights and Comets had a base cabinet that had diaper ointment inside. The safety lock did not work.
2. The door to the storage closet in the Tummies room was locked but, the handle would not attach securing the contents.

Plan of Correction: The owner and director will ensure that all hazardous substances are kept locked and the lock on the door handle repaired or replaced.
