Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, September 11, 2019 to determine the centers compliance with licensing standards. Most but not all standards were reviewed during today's inspection. The inspector initiated the inspection at 9:00 am and concluded the inspection at 12:15 pm. The Director participated in the inspection. Upon arrival children were participating in activities that incorporated the theme for the week, magnetism along with activities in honor or 09/11. Children in the pre-k class conducted a magnetic breakfast cereal science project, predicting which cereal would have a magnetic attraction. Children also painted with red, white and blue to create paper plate fireworks. The junior kindergarten class listened to the story "Is This My Classroom" while the pre-school class worked in centers. Today's centers included sorting colored dinosaurs, construction with magnetic blocks, water/magnets at the sensory table and drawing a picture using only red, white and blue in their journals. Infants were observed playing in bouncers, with activity mats, being feed and napping. Staff also took small groups of infants outside to play on the blanket for short intervals. The early pre-school and two year old children painted with ink dots, played with cars, colored in their journal with their favorite color and created felt board stories. Staff participated in play and interacted with children in a positive manner. Lunch time was also observed with hand washing being conducted. Today's lunch consisted of baked cheesy ziti, roasted cauliflower, mixed greens, salad and milk. All areas of the facility were inspected to include classrooms, bathrooms, hallway, kitchen and the playground. The center has age and stage appropriate materials and supplies. The facility had the following required information posted: license, most recent inspection notice, emergency numbers, evacuation maps/procedures, daily schedule, menu and various parent information. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were checked and found complete, The inspector interacted with staff and children in care.

Six staff records and ten children's records were reviewed.
Staff on site have current CPR, First aid, Daily health observation training and MAT.
The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 08/14/2019. One of the two required shelter-in-place drills was conducted on 04/05/2019. A second drill will need to be completed by the end of the year.
