22VAC40-185 STAFFING AND SUPERVISION.
An unannounced complaint inspection was conducted July 8, and August 28 in response to a anonymous complaint. Interviews were conducted with staff relating to the allegation of staff to child ratio and supervision of children. The preponderance of the evidence gathered during the investigation supports the allegation of staff to child ratio, so the complaint is determined to be "valid" .
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-3 Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on interviews with staff, the center failed to ensure that the child to staff ratio for two year olds were met.
1. Verified through interviews with five staff, the center failed to ensure that the morning grouping of children met the required child to staff ratio. On mornings of May 22, June 12, 19, 20 and 21st the staff to child ratio was not met. Staff stated that there were between 10-12 children in the grouping each in the mornings. One staff was with the children and the second staff was cooking breakfast. The required ratio is one staff person eight children when the youngest child is 2 years of age. Two staff are required to be actively supervising.
Plan of Correction: The director has re worked the schedule for the morning hours. The schedule will be monitored to ensure the correct number of staff is present to meet the child to staff ratio.
