An unannounced monitoring inspection took place between 3:15 - 4:45 pm on this second week of school. There were 51 children present with three staff. I observed arrival, children eating snack, reading, writing, playing quiet games, discussing sports, dancing and hobbies; and preparing for outdoor play. Medications and staff files were well organized and complete.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there were some hazardous substances not kept in a locked place during the time children were present.
Evidence:
In Room 1, there were disinfectant wipes observed at child height, and a bottle of hand cleaner on the sink. unlocked areas.Plan of Correction: We are using the art room, and a new teacher is now there before our program starts. We will speak to the teachers and review the room before use.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-A Description: Based on observation and staff confirmation on 9/9/19 between 3:20 - 3:30 pm, staff were not in ratio when supervising children. Staff # 1 was observed alone in one classroom with 22 children, some of whom were under age 8. Staff # 2 was in another classroom with 21 older school agers Staff # 3 was on the phone and out of the room, following up on a child not accounted for during the transition to the after school program. . Plan of Correction: We have been without a staff member. We will speak to the regional director about a more permanent staff member.
