Comments:
An unannounced inspection was completed on 9/24/19. There were 12 children present with two staff supervising. Five children's records and three staff records were reviewed.

The inspector arrived at the school at 2:50 pm and departed at 4:15 pm.

The children were observed finishing snack, during homework time, and during outside time.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-B
Description: Based on observation of posted inspections, the center failed to ensure that there was annual approval from the health department.

Evidence:
1. The last "Report of Environmental Sanitation Inspection" form was completed on 9/13/18.

Plan of Correction: The child care director will request a new health form.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hand washing was practiced as required.

Evidence:
1. Three children were observed to be eating snack at arrival of the inspector. The three children did not wash their hands or use disposable wipes after eating. There were no wipes observed available for the children to use and no wipes observed in the trash can used for snack. Staff verified that they had forgotten to use wipes and the children did not wash their hands.

Plan of Correction: Staff will make sure that wipes are used after eating daily.
