We discussed the requirements for medication. The risk assessment for a violation was provided.
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced monitoring inspection conducted from 10:05 AM to 2:00 PM. Today, there were eighteen to nineteen children, ages three to five years, with two to three staff. I viewed daily routines, activities, staffing, supervision, interactions with children, emergency supplies and drill records, agency inspection reports, minor injury record, medication, posted information, five records for children, five staff records, staff qualifications, staff training, lunch, indoor and outdoor areas. The pre-K classroom has a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and equipment with choices for children's interests and learning. Today, they enjoyed library time, music, outside play and stories. The teachers were observed providing adequate supervision and positive guidance. The staff have participated in regular professional development opportunities.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on a review of medication, and an interview with administrative staff, the school did not ensure that prescription medication was maintained in the original, labeled container. Evidence: There was not a container with a prescription label for two medications for child 1M. The child's name was handwritten on the plastic containers for each medication. Plan of Correction: The teacher immediately contacted the parent to arrange for medication with the prescription label that will be kept at the school for child 1M.
