Technical Assistance:
Discussed the center's electronic records and the organization of documents that allows easier access.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 58 children with 4 staff present. When the Inspector arrived, the children and staff were on the playground and adjacent fields. Staff strategically placed themselves throughout this are to ensure adequate supervision of the children was in place. The children transitioned inside, bathroom and hand washing procedures were observed. Parents were observed arriving to pick up their children and followed protocol with signing the children out on the attendance. Snack time was observed. The children were observed sitting while they ate and drank their juice. Programming materials such as legos, books and coloring materials were available for the children to use. Tables were sanitizing after snack time and the children completed quiet activities at the table while they watched a movie. Positive interaction observed between staff and children. A total of 7 children's records, medications and CPR/First Aid, Daily Health and MAT training were reviewed and verified. This inspection began at approximately 3pm and ended at 5:10pm. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C
Description: Based on medication review, the center failed to follow their own medication policy.
Evidence:
1. Child #1 has an authorization for Benadryl effective through August 2020. This medication was not available for the duration of the authorization.
2. Child #2 has a signed authorization for a benadryl that expired on 8/24/19. The FARE form dated 2/19/19 does not include dates of duration.
3. Child #3 has a signed authorization for a epinephrine. The signed authorization does not include the duration of the authorization. The authorization signed by the parent which includes duration dates is not signed by a physician.

Plan of Correction: We will clarify whether this child continues to need this medication. We will obtain new authorizations for both these medications.
