An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:20am-11:30am. At the time of entrance, 22 children were in care with 4 staff members present. Children were observed during circle time, playing with puzzles, art, learning about Colombia, dancing and singing. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. The staff speak to the children in Spanish as part of the program. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, evacuation drills, attendance records and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Evidence:
1. Child #1's file was missing one emergency contact name, address and phone number.Plan of Correction: I will ask the parent for it today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-C Description: Based on record review, staff working directly with children did not attend 16 hours of staff development activities annually.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 had 5 hours of training from 8/2018 through 8/2019.
2. Staff #3 had 15 hours of training from 8/2018 through 8/2019.Plan of Correction: I will make to get the training documentation.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on record review and interview, the center did not complete monthly evacuation drills.
Evidence:
1. Staff #4 stated the center did not complete fire drills the month of May, June, July or August 2019.
2. The fire drill record did not have fire drills documented the month of May, June, July or August 2019.Plan of Correction: I will make sure we do a fire drill every month and document it.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain the Out of State Central Registry results for an individual that resided in another State in the past five years.
Evidence:
1. Staff #5 (date of hire 3/15/2019) lived in Maryland and Washington DC in the past 5 years and the center did not obtain the Central Registry Results for those two States for this staff member.Plan of Correction: I will print out the form and get it sent.
