63.2 Facilities & Programs.
The inspector conducted an unannounced mandated inspection from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30. There were 14 children in care with two staff supervising at all times. Children were observed walking back to the classroom from playing outside, washing hands, walking to lunch and having lunch, and during rest time. No medications are being administered at this time. Five children's records were reviewed. Violations are identified on the violation notice. Please contact your inspector at 276-698-9981 with any questions.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: The center failed to maintain the outside of the center in a safe condition.
1. The inspector observed a sign leaned up against the ramps as you enter the center that had screws sticking out.
Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F-4 Description: Based on observation, the center offered food that was a choking hazard.
1. The inspector observed hot dogs being served to 3 yr. olds at lunch that were not cut.
Plan of Correction: Teachers were not aware they needed to be cut; corrected during the inspection. Staff will either cut hot dogs and other choking hazards or talk with cafeteria staff about cutting food items.
