Technical assistance today included follow up on injury reports, and the difference between the date a medication authorization expires (that was written by the parent and the physician); and the date that the manufacturer documents that the actual item is considered to be expired.
- Comments:

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 3:35 - 5:15 pm. There were 55 children at the beginning of the inspection with 4 staff. I observed children building rockets and houses with Legos, beading, coloring intricate designs and playing with table games. I also saw children go outdoors. Records were well-organized. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation and staff confirmation, there was an area of the center that was not maintained in a safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
An outlet was not working properly near the sink, so the refrigerator was plugged into an alternate outlet around a corner, where the cord was accessible wrapped around the corner of the wall. .Plan of Correction: A work order was placed last week.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on a review of records today, one medication authorization did not meet the standards.
Evidence:
The authorization for Child # 1 had a physician's signature but not a parent signature; and the last date staff were authorized to administer the medication had expired on 10/5/2019..Plan of Correction: We will talk to the parent tonight.
