Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included emergency medications and action plans.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 3:20 - 5:10 pm. There were 62 children present with 5 staff. I observed as different groups arrived, settled in and went to activities. Children were arriving, coloring, preparing to go to the gym or outdoors, and beginning a craft project of making lollipops - learning science concepts by working with hard candies and making "rosebuds" on a stick with soft candies. Medications and records were well-organized. If you have any questions, please contact me at brenda.kuhlman@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation today, some areas and equipment of the center were not maintained in a safe and/or operable condition.
Evidence:
There was a ceiling square tile that was observed to be not securely set in the ceiling. Large folding tables weres stored on the side of the refrigerator with their metal folding hinges accessible, posing a pinching hazard. Handles were badly broken on the cabinet under the sink.

Plan of Correction: We will have a work order put in for the ceiling tile and the cabinet handles. The tables are used and stored by another group that uses the room. We will make sure they are stored so they do not have parts accessible to children.
