An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. There were 52 children in care, with a total of 14 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. Children's records, the physical plant, emergency preparedness items, classroom programming and interactions, background checks, staff records, staff training, and children's medications were inspected today.
The children were observed playing outside, attending music class, eating lunch from home, dancing to music, creating art projects, enjoying finger painting, and engaging in classroom creative activities.
This inspection was completed between approximately 10:40am and 12:30pm. Thank you for meeting with me today. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at email@example.com

Child records A, B, and C do not include each parent's work contact information.
Child record B does not include the address for each emergency contact person.
Plan of Correction: Each parent will be asked for the missing information.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-80-A Description: Based on a review of administrative documents, it was determined that one class has not kept a written record of children in attendance daily.
In the Stars classroom, the written attendance for today was not complete.
Plan of Correction: The attendance was recorded immediately during the inspection.

Staff A began employment on 10/8/19. She has not completed "Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect" training.
Plan of Correction: I will ask her to do the training this weekend.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on a review of children's medications, it was determined that the center did not follow their procedures for administering and maintaining medication on site.
One child's medication authorization form expired on 9/10/19.
Plan of Correction: The parent was already asked to bring a new and current authorization. I emailed the parent immediately during the inspection to remind them to bring the new authorization form.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on a review of emergency preparedness items, it was determined that the school has not conducted each monthly evacuation drill.
The school did not conduct an evacuation drill during the months of July and August, 2019.
Plan of Correction: We were only open one week each of those months for a short summer camp. We will remember to do a drill each month regardless of how long we're open.
