Technical Assistance:
Discussed the following subjects: yearly fire inspection, two shelter in place drills needed every calendar year, playground mulch, the modification and medication forms.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:30am-1:00pm. At the time of entrance, 89 children were in care with 19 staff members present. Children were observed during lunch time, engaged in group activities, washing hands, in gym class and outdoor play time. The site was clean and organized. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records and medications were reviewed. . Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-B
Description: Based on review of children's records, the center did not obtain documentation of additional immunizations once every six months for children under the age of two years.
Evidence:
1. Child #1 had an immunization record dated 12/15/2017 and the center needed an updated immunization record.

Plan of Correction: The parent was emailed to request the information during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A
Description: Based on review of nine children's records, two records were not complete.
Evidence:
1. Child #5 and Child #7's files were missing the 2nd emergency contact's address.

Plan of Correction: The information was requested by email during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning supplies were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. In the little monsters class, 5 cleaning products were inside a cabinet with a padlock hanging on the metal loop. The padlock was not in the locked position.

Plan of Correction: The padlock was locked immediately.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-H
Description: Based on observation, purses were not kept inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
1. In the Little Monsters class, a teacher's purse was hanging on the wall and was within reach of the children.

Plan of Correction: I will remind the teacher to put the purse in the cabinet. The purse was moved during the inspection.
