Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 66 children with 5 staff were present. The children were observed arriving to the program directly after school. Children were in small groups with one staff assigned to each grouping. Attendance was called and recorded. Children began drawing a holiday themed drawing while the remaining children arrived to the program. Two groups of children with 2 staff transitioned to outside play while the remaining two groups lined up for hand washing before snack. Snack today was either milk or juice with crackers. Children were observed in small groups completing homework, with staff assistance when needed, drawing and coloring and reading quietly. A total of 7 children's records were reviewed and found complete. Four emergency medications and 3 as needed medications were on site and reviewed and found complete. CPR/First Aid, Daily Health and Medication Administration training was verified. Staff records along with background checks are reviewed on an annual basis at the administrative office. This inspection began at approximately 2:05pm and ended at 3:50pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: lisa.hudson@dss.virginia.gov with any questions.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-K
Description: Based on observation, tables were not properly sanitized.
Evidence: Tables were not sanitized before and after snack time. Staff were observed using Clorox wipes to wipe down tables after snack time. Tables must be sanitized properly by spraying a bleach solution or commercial chemical disinfectant onto the surface of the table.

Plan of Correction: We will no longer use wipes. We will begin using a bleach solvent spray and ensure that tables are sanitized both before and after snack time.
