Had a discussion with center management regarding orientation for staff prior to when children begin.
An announced initial Inspection was conducted today, beginning at 9:00am. The physical plant, staff qualifications, background checks, policies and procedures were reviewed. Classrooms were measured for space calculations to determine capacity. Rooms are filled with supplies, equipment and age appropriate activities for the children. The center is prepared to begin enrolling children. Many areas could not be inspected due to no children in care at this time. This inspection, including the exit interview, ended at 10:45am. Should you have any questions, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-A Description: Based on interview, the center does not have an emergency preparedness plan that addresses staff responsibility and facility readiness with respect to emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place.
Evidence: When asked for the center's emergency preparedness plan, the center owner stated that they have not yet established a plan because they are meeting with the local fire Marshall who is going to provide a sample plan and will help advise us.
Plan of Correction: The fire Marshall will be sending a sample emergency plan and as soon as it's received we will create our plan.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-B Description: Based on record review, an employee has not completed a sworn disclosure statement.
Evidence: Staff #6's file does not contain a current sworn disclosure statement.
Plan of Correction: We will complete and send it over.
