An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. There were 39 children in care, with a total of 3 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. Children's records, staff training, classroom programming, staff:child interactions, emergency preparedness items, and children's medications were inspected today.
The children were observed finishing lunch from home, enjoying quiet circle time activities, reading books, and coloring pictures.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on a review of children's records, it was determined that two records do not contain all required information.
Evidence:
Child record A does not include the work phone number for each parent, and the "authorized pick ups" information.
Child record E does not include "authorized picks ups" information.Plan of Correction: The parents will be asked for the information.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-5 Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the class of school-age children was operated beyond the allowable staff:child ratio of one staff member for every 18 children.
Evidence:
Upon arrival at 12:00, the Inspector observed 39 children in care with a total of only 2 staff members. This amount of children requires at least 3 staff members. It was reported to the Inspector that the third staff person was out of the room on her lunch break from 11:30-12:30. However, the staff person returned from her break early at 12:10. For the period of time between 11:30-12:10 the class was operated over the allowable ratio of one staff:18 children.Plan of Correction: I will remind the SACC office that we must be properly staffed at all times.
