63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:30am to 11:45am with the Director, Assistant Director, and center staff. There were 47 children in care ranging from three months to five years of age supervised by 11 staff. The children were observed playing on the playground, coloring, sorting toys by color, enjoying water play and sensory play, and playing a game on a computer. Five children?s files and five staff files were reviewed. The Center has adequate staff certified in CPR, First Aid, and Daily Health Observation. Fourteen medications and authorization forms were reviewed for nine children and the center has three staff current in Medication Administration Training (MAT). Attendance and the emergency drill log were reviewed and in compliance. The most recent Fire Inspection was conducted 10/17/18 and the most recent Health Inspection was conducted 10/7/19. Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that diaper creams were stored in a way that was inaccessible to children. Evidence: In the twos to threes class, Preschool Explorers, there were two diaper creams stored in an unlocked cabinet under the diaper changing table.

Plan of Correction: Moved to a locked cabinet during the inspection.
