Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted between the hours of 9:00am and 12:00pm. At the time of the tour there were 63 children in care with 14 staff present. A sample of 1 staff and 8 children's records were reviewed. Children were observed in morning circle, singing songs and talking about Thanksgiving. Infants were observed playing on the floor with staff and being held.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all areas of the center were maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
In the school age room there was peeling paint along the back wall, adjacent to the exit to the playground.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the designated person-in-charge, during the exit interview.
Evidence:
Maintenance has already been contacted. The director will contacted again to repaint.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place.
In the Pre-K classroom there was an unlocked storage cabinet on the bottom shelf closest to the floor, that contained a 5lb box of Borax detergent.The detergent had a warning label reading, "keep out of reach of children."

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the designated person-in-charge, during the exit interview.
Evidence:
The designated person-in-charge locked the cabinet during the inspection and will remind staff that this item is required to be locked.
