- Technical Assistance:
Administrators and inspector discussed medications, staff records and qualifications, record keeping and training hours.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 12:41pm-3:00pm. There were 78 children directly supervised by 12 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed reading quietly, resting on cots and sleeping. Teachers were observed cleaning, talking softly to children and soothing children to sleep. Infants were observed moving feeling, being held during a bottle feeding and playing with soft blocks and toys. There was a supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on record review, the center did not ensure each child's record contained all required information.
1) Child 1 is missing one emergency contact.
2) Child 2 is missing one parent work phone number.
Plan of Correction: We will get the information from parents and have them complete the record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on record review, all required information was not in the staff records.
Evidence: Written information to demonstrate that the individual possesses the education or training required by the job position was not kept in records for Staff 1 and Staff 2.
Plan of Correction: We will request from staff the information for the record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure all hazardous materials were stored in a locked place.
1)A paint can labeled keep out of the reach of children was on the counter of the changing table within the reach of children.
2) In the mobile infant room, the lower cabinet which stores cleaning products was unlocked and accessible to children.
Plan of Correction: The paint was placed in a locked lower cabinet. The lower cabinet was locked upon inspection.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain out of state central registry results for each staff member who has lived out side of the state of Virginia within the last 5 years.
Evidence: Staff 1 does not have a completed out of state central registry results who has lived out of the state of Virginia within the last 5 years. (Staff 1, Date of Hire: 8/15/2019)
Plan of Correction: We will follow up on the background checks.
