Technical Assistance:
Discussion on transitions from playground to returning to the program area and transition from hand washing procedures to snack time.

Discussed adequate supervision while outside and also between the two programming areas.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. When the Inspector arrived, the children were outside. Some children were observed playing on the playground equipment, some children were on the basketball court, a group of children were on the sidewalk and a small group of children were in the far field beyond the playground equipment. The children transitioned inside and had snack. Additional snacks such as clementines and cereal were provided. Positive interaction observed between staff and children. All medication reviewed, a total of 5 children's records and verification of CPR/First Aid, MAT and Daily Health observation training was made. All training, qualifications and background checks are reviewed at the administrative office annually. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-F
Description: Based on observation, children under the age of 10 were not within sight supervision of staff.
Evidence: Children were observed in the gym area without staff's knowledge.

Plan of Correction: We will have children sit and wait for the remaining children to return to the programming area before anyone can enter the gym.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-K
Description: Based on observation, tables were not sanitized before and after feeding.
Evidence:
1. As the children transitioned inside from the playground, they began eating snack before all tables were sanitized.
2. Licensing Inspector observed Staff #2 sanitizing tables as children were eating and sanitized around their food.
3. Staff failed to sanitize tables after snack time.

Plan of Correction: We will have children sit at a different table while staff sanitize the tables.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-N
Description: Based on observation, children were allowed to drink and eat while walking around.
Evidence: Licensing Inspector observed several children eating their snack and drinking juice as they walked around the program area.

Plan of Correction: We will ensure that all children sit until they are finished with their snack.
