Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from approximately 12:40 pm to 5:15 pm. At the time of entrance, 171 children were in care directly supervised by 30 staff members. Ratios were in compliance. Children were observed during nap time, snack time, bathroom breaks, hand washing, toy play and infants during tummy time. The site was clean, organized and contained a varied supply of developmentally appropriate materials. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, evacuation drills, attendance records and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Maria Robles at maria.robles-lopez@dss.virginia.gov.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on documentation review and interview, it was determined that the center did not implement a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills per year.
Evidence:
1) On the date of inspection, the emergency drills record did not contain documentation of two shelter-in-place practice drills per year. The only shelter-in-place drill documented for the 2018-2019 school year was dated 12/28/2018.
2) The director stated that they did complete the required annual drills but did not documented them.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure to document all the emergency drills accurately.
