Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 7 children with 2 staff present. The majority of enrolled children were participating in a school sponsored movie. The children were observed arriving to the programming area, placing their backpacks and personal belongings in their bins. Attendance was taken and the children transitioned to the outside playground. Staff were positioned strategically to ensure appropriate supervision. Hand washing procedures were observed and the children helped themselves to snack. Some of the children selected table top activities such as legos. Art holiday project materials were laid out and ready for the children to make. Markers and coloring worksheets were available. Snack today was graham crackers and milk to drink. A total of 9 medications on site, all of which were reviewed. A total of 6 children's records were reviewed. CPR/First Aid and medication training was verified today, Daily health observation was verified in May 2019. All background checks and staff qualifications are reviewed annually at the main office. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C
Description: Based on medication review, the center failed to follow their own medication policy.
Evidence: One liquid medication for Child #5 expired in October 2019.

Plan of Correction: We will return this medication to the parent and request a replacement.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-C
Description: Based on observation of the first aid kit, some items were not maintained.
Evidence: A thermometer and 2 triangular bandages were not found in any of the 3 first aid kits on site.

Plan of Correction: We will obtain these items and maintain them on site.
