Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:15am-11:30am. There were 31 children directly supervised by 7 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 5 volunteer parent records, 5 children?s records, 5 medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in playing outside, painting, making wire sculptures, and sensory play. Children were also observed smoothly transitioning from music class to center play and from a classroom to a picnic. Staff were observed to be actively engaged in conversation with the children and promoting ways of getting along. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on observation, not all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. A bucket containing cleaning supplies was observed on the top of a cabinet in the front room.
2. The supplies were inaccessible to children in care but were not locked.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C
Description: Based on record review, one of the five medication's reviewed did not contain all information required for administration.
Evidence:
The medication for Child 4 did not contain dates instructing the duration of the parent's authorization for medication

Plan of Correction: We will ask the parent to update the medication authorization form with the dates that the authorization is effective.
