22VAC40-185 STAFFING AND SUPERVISION.
Unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date.A total of 28 children with 9 staff on site today. Observation of all 8 classrooms was conducted. One classroom (school age) was not occupied during the inspection. Children were observed interacting with each other and with staff. The older children were observed tracing letters of the alphabet, constructing with magnetic geometric shapes and sitting in circle time with staff and children playing with hand puppets. Each classroom was found to be clean and maintained. The walls were decorated with artwork completed by the children such as cupcake paper graphs, winter cotton ball snowballs and a science activity of "what makes snow melt". Hand washing and diapering procedures were reviewed. Topical ointments and medication also reviewed and authorizations found complete. Observation of cribs and cots and bathrooms used by children was made and found clean. Staff interviews conducted regarding center procedures for emergency evacuations and shelter in place drills. Director on site today. A total of 6 staff records and 5 children's records were reviewed. Improvement noted regarding recordation and programming.
