Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 01/15/2020 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 27 children, ages 9 months-5 years, and 6 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed 5 children's records and 5 staff records during the inspection. The staff stated that medication is not administered. The children were observed in the following activities: during free choice/center play, during lunch and during naptime. Infants were observed being fed and allowed to sleep on demand. The inspector reviewed the emergency preparedness plans, the staff and parent handbooks and the emergency supplies during the inspection. The inspector discussed children's allergies, food from home and playground renovations with the staff. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and can be found on the Violation Notice. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 10:00 a.m. and departed at 1:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Becky Forestier at 540-309-2835.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-510-B
Description: Based on document review and discussion with staff, the vendor failed to maintain a written hard copy record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.

Evidence: The written hard copy record of daily attendance in the Infant and Toddler Classes did not document departure as it occurs.

Plan of Correction: Staff were instructed to begin documenting departure as it occurs.
