An announced initial inspection was conducted with the program director beginning at 9:30 AM and ending at 1:30 PM. There were 32 children in the care during the inspection. The children's ages ranged from five months through five years old. The infants were observed doing tummy time, playing with soft toys, and interacting with caregivers. The older children were observed during free play, being read stories, and preparing for instructional time. Classrooms were observed and are well organized and equipped with age appropriate supplies and furnishings. Twelve staff records were reviewed. Ten children's records were reviewed and in compliance. There were no medications on site to be reviewed. Three staff have been trained in Medication Administration Training (MAT). The emergency evacuation plan was reviewed. The first aid kit, flashlight, and weather-band radio were observed and in compliance.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-80-A Description: Based on review of the attendance record, the facility did not ensure all children were included on the written attendance record. Evidence: In the Preschool classroom, there were 6 children physically present and 5 children signed in on the attendance sheet. In the 2 year old classroom, there were 6 children physically present and 4 children were signed in on the attendance sheet. In the younger infant classroom, there were 3 children physically present and 2 signed in on the attendance sheet. Plan of Correction: The center will ensure that all children are record on the daily attendance sheets as they arrive. The center will create a new sign in sheet for children that are transitioning to different classrooms in the center.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-210-A Description: Based on review of 12 staff records, it was determined that not all program leaders had documentation of completion of high school program or the equivalent. Evidence: Staff A and Staff B's records were missing documentation of a high school diploma or equivalent. Plan of Correction: The staff will be notified that they need to provide documentation of high school diploma or equivalent within two weeks.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on a review of 12 staff records, the center failed to obtain documentation of fingerprinting background checks results for all of the staff. Evidence: Staff A's record was missing documentation of fingerprinting background checks. Plan of Correction: The center will follow up with the Office of Background Investigation to obtain a copy of the fingerprinting background check results for the staff.
