An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 11:30 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. with the center director. There were 34 children in care ranging in age from 2 months to 5 years old under the care and supervision of 7 staff. Infants were observed sleeping. Toddlers and preschoolers were observed during lunch and preparing for nap. Three, four and five year olds were observed during lunch. Lunch today was Spanish rice, peas, peaches and milk. The playground could not be inspected today due to rain.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-420-A Description: Based on review of documentation, it was determined that the center did not provide parents of the children enrolled at the center required information before the first day of attending. Evidence: A change of ownership occurred and new license issued for the facility on 11/18/2019. Parents were emailed on 12/17/2019 regarding the change in ownership. Parents received handbooks and the final page was signed by parents and dated anywhere from 11/13/2019 through January 2020. Plan of Correction: As of today, all parents have been provided the required information.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, it was determined that not all diapering areas had a leakproof covered receptacle for soiled linens. Evidence: In the Frogs classroom, an open basket with cutouts was being used for soiled linens. Plan of Correction: Addressed during the inspection
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of staff records, it was determined that the center did not obtain central registry background check findings within 30 days of employment. Evidence: Staff #1, Staff #2, Staff #7, Staff #10, Staff #11, employment date 11/13/2019 did not have documentation of central registry background check in the record. Staff #3, employment date 11/13/2019, central registry check was dated 1/9/2020, Staff #4, Staff #8, Staff #9, Staff #12 and Staff #13, employment date 11/13/2019, central registry background check was dated 1/11/2020. Plan of Correction: As of today, all background checks have been requested.
