Comments:
An unannounced Renewal Inspection was conducted today from 9:30am to 12:00pm. There were 162 (Infants to School-Age) directly supervised by 26 staff. The physical plant, 10 staff records, 12 children?s records, 5 children's medications and medication authorization records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, listening to stories, transitioning activities, doing lunges in the gym, and interacting with staff and other children. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was a sufficient supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure that the areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
1) Observed peeling paint in the following classrooms: the Gym, the Two's and Math.
2) Observed a hole in the wall from the handle of the bathroom door in the School-Age room.

Plan of Correction: Maintenance will be on site this weekend for paint and repair walls.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G
Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure that when food is brought from home, it is clearly labeled to identify the owner and is dated.
Evidence: observed a small container on food in a side pocket of a backpack that was not labeled/dated.

Plan of Correction: All food brought from home will be labeled, effective immediately.
