Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-4 Description: Based on staff interviews and a review of children's medications, it was determined that three children who have emergency medications on site were present without being in the care of a staff person who holds current Medication Administration Training (MAT) certification.
Of the three staff present today, only one holds current MAT certification. This staff person arrived at 9:45am today. It was reported to the Inspector that three children who have emergency prescription medications on site were present and in care prior to the arrival of this staff person. During the time prior to her arrival, these children were in care without a MAT certified staff person present.
Plan of Correction: We usually have 2 MAT staff, but the second one is not here today. I will make sure we are staffed correctly tomorrow.
