An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 178 childen with 26 staff were present today. Observation of 7 classrooms was conducted. The children were observed making polar bear themed art projects, identifying both upper and lower case letters and sitting attentively as staff were reading books to them encouraging dialogue regarding the comprehension. Hand washing and diapering procedures were also observed. A total of 5 staff and 10 children's records were reviewed today. The center was decorated throughout with winter themed projects and decorations completed by the children. Staff observed sitting with children while they ate their lunch. Lunch today was cheese pizza, watermelon and spinach. This inspection began at approximately 10am and ended at 12:45pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on staff record review, one required background check was not obtained.
Evidence: Staff #5 lived outside of the State of Virginia within the past five years. An out of state background check was not obtained.Plan of Correction: We will obtain a Central Registry search for this staff and will forward the results to the Licensing Inspector for review. Request will be made by 1/28/20
