Inspection Date:

Complaint Related: No

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-80-A
Description: Based on interviews and a review of the attendance log, it was determined that the center and its staff are not keeping attendance of the children present but are allowing the children to sign themselves in on the attendance sheet.

Plan of Correction: We have redone our attendance sign in roster. Each staff member leading a group will have the correct binder and attendance roster in their hands at all times.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-190-A-3
Description: Based on a review of five staff files and an interview with the director, it was determined that one staff did not have the documentation to show that they have the 12 semester hours in a child related field to meet the qualifications as director.
Evidence:
Based on a review of the transcripts and an interview with the director, it was determined that staff A had 3 of the 12 credit hours for the position of director.

Plan of Correction: I have submitted my transcripts and highlighted the courses that have been approved prior to my position, by 2 other Licensing Inspectors for the VA DSS. I will complete other Childhood Development Courses over the next few weeks to give me more qualification for the position.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A
Description: Based on interviews and observation , it was determined that the center and its staff were not always ensuring the care, protection and guidance of all children.
Evidence:
At the beginning of the inspection the Licensing Inspector observed 13 children with 4 staff. When the Licensing Inspector inquired about the number of children present who were in the licensed program, three staff had a debate for several minutes trying to determine which of the 13 children were in the licensed program. The staff initially stated 3, then 2 and ultimately determined that only one of the children present was in the licensed program.

On another occasion during the Inspection the Licensing Inspector once again acquired as to which children were in the licensed program out of the 27 children present. One staff did not have an answer and the second staff took several minutes to count the 14 children who were present and part of the licensed program.

Plan of Correction: We will identify the Daycare children with the correct colored bracelet. Also, the staff will be trained on which children are about of B/A care program.
