Discussion on indoor equipment, medications and staff records.

Comments:
An announced initial inspection was completed today approximately 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. There were 134 children supervised by 28 direct care staff. This was completed as part of a change in ownership from Kids R? Kids Learning Academy of South Riding at 25160 Loudon County Parkway, Chantilly, Virginia. The LI met with the President of Operations to complete the inspection. The physical plant, 10 staff files, 6 children records, fire and health inspection, staff training, emergency plans and procedures. Medications were on-site today and records were reviewed. The playground and surfacing were inspected. The children were observed in free play, center activities, napping, and transitioning. There were age appropriate materials for all children. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observations, there were equipment of the center which were not maintained in a clean condition.
Evidence
1. Int the Kindergarten classroom, two tables had tape residue on the table. The children are eat at the table.

Plan of Correction: Staff was in the processing of cleaning the table.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3
Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure electrical outlets had protective covers that are of a size that cannot be swallowed by children.
Evidence: In the classroom of Jelly Fish, the surge protector was plugged in and did not have protective covers.

Plan of Correction: We will fix today.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-B
Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure materials available were age and stage appropriate for the children.
Evidence: In the classroom of Jellyfish, one-inch counter bears were accessible for children.

Plan of Correction: The bears were removed from the classroom.
