Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was completed on 02/07/2020 from 10:20 A.M.-3:00 P.M. At the time of the inspection 70 children were in care with sixteen staff and three administrators present. Seven children records, seven staff records, three board members background checks, six injury reports, emergency plan, first aid kits, emergency supplies, health inspection, fire inspection, and posted required information were reviewed. The playground was not inspected due to inclement weather. Children were observed during infant feeding, diapering, music and movement, storytime one-on-one infant and toddler interactions, behavioral guidance, free choice activities, transitions, handwashing, lunchtime, naptime, and snacktime. The exceptions to compliance are noted on the violation notice.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-A
Description: Based on a review of diaper ointments, the center failed to ensure that all over-the-counter skins products shall not be kept beyond the expiration date.

Evidence:
1. In the Infant 2 Classroom there was a tube of Desitin Diaper Cream that had expired in 10/2019.
2. Staff verified that Desitin Diaper Cream had expired.

Plan of Correction: Teachers will check every Monday to make sure all diaper cream in in date. All diaper cream brought in by parents will be checked immediately.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all prepared infant formula was dated.

Evidence:
1. In the Infant 1 Classroom there were four bottles that were not dated.
2. Staff verified that the bottles were not labeled with the date.

Plan of Correction: Teachers will check bags each morning to ensure parents have dated all bottles, and if they have not they will place the date on them.
